Buckman Art Show (At Home) 2021 ~ March 9-14

Due to the pandemic, one of my favorite shows to participate in, the Buckman Art Show will be taking place virtually this year. I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since my last in person show. In early March 2020, we were just starting to take precautions against COVID and the show went on as scheduled. But attendance did seem diminished and there seemed to be a hesitancy among vendors and shoppers alike.

This year, instead of a 3-day event, there will be a week-long online fundraiser March 9-14 to celebrate the arts and artists at Buckman Elementary. A list of 2020 vendors and links to their shops, arranged by medium, will be available to shoppers.

I will be busy adding things to my Etsy shop in the coming week and I hope that you will take a look and also support other local artists!

The Buckman Art Show + Sell is a harbinger of spring and a bright spot in a relatively quiet time for craft shows around Portland.

Chinchilla Whiskers is happy to be a part of the show as they celebrate their 30th anniversary!

There will be 120 artists and craftspersons selling their original artwork, furniture, toys, jewelry, textiles, paper creations, photography, paintings, ceramics and more!

Proceeds benefit the Buckman PTA to support the award winning arts integrated education.

Plus there will be food carts, performances, art activities, and a student art gallery for a 2 full days of fun!

This weekend, March 9 & 10 is the 29th Annual Buckman Art Show + Sell, a fundraiser for arts education at Buckman Arts Focus Academy.

There will be 120+ artists, student art (my favorite), free art activities for kids, food trucks, and more.

I’ll be bringing lots of pouches, wristlets, handbags, and other goodies featuring new fabrics.

Also, I’ll have Easter-themed treat bags to fill with candy and felt bunnies that make a great addition to someone special’s Easter basket.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Buckman Art Show + Sell on this glorious spring day! As Portlanders, we can’t resist getting outside when we’re treated with a sunny Saturday. So I want to thank everyone who took the time to make this indoor event part of their day. We’ll be back at it tomorrow from 11 am – 4 pm. Hope to see you there!

Stop by the 28th Annual Buckman Art Show + Sell this weekend ~ March 10 & 11. The fun begins at 10 am on Saturday morning. Ms. Chinchilla’s paws have been busy getting ready for the show!

I’ll have my usual things — magnets, treat bags, key fobs and pouches. In addition, I have a great new wristlet design in fun fabrics and new felt Easter-theme critters. These would make great gifts or be a sweet surprise inside an Easter basket.

There will be 130 local artists and craftspersons selling their original artwork, furniture, toys, jewelry, textiles, paper creations, photography, paintings, ceramics and more! 30% of sales are donated to the Buckman PTA to support their award-winning arts-integrated education. Food carts, student art and kids art activities too!

Chinchilla Whiskers will be at the 28th Annual Buckman Art Show + Sell on Saturday, March 10 from 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday, March 11 from 11 am – 4 pm.

I am excited to be a part of this show along with 130 artists and craftspersons selling their original artwork, furniture, toys, jewelry, textiles, paper creations, photography, paintings, ceramics and more!

30% of sales are donated to the Buckman PTA to support their award-winning arts-integrated curriculum.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Buckman Art Show + Sell last weekend! After being an annual shopper at this event, I was finally a vendor. There was some beautiful work on display and I met some lovely artists who I hope to see again.

Thank you also to friends and family who stopped by to say hello — Laura, Donna, Stacey and Sarah! It’s always great to see friendly faces who I can chat with.

Two days at Buckman gave me a chance to work on some doodle embroidery. I haven’t picked up the needle in a while. Dang, it felt good!

Don’t know what I’m going to do with it, but for me a lot of embroidery is the process and the enjoyment rather than a finished product. I started with some circles drawn onto a linen/cotton fabric, picked out 10 or so of my favorite Perle cottons and set to work. Having handwork kept me from shopping at all the other amazing booths!

I’m working on scheduling more shows for the spring and summer. I’ll keep you posted. Once the weather gets nicer and the sun returns, it’s time to focus on getting some more items photographed and available for Etsy.

I am excited to be part of the year’s Buckman Art Show + Sell at the Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School this Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12!

This is the biggest show I’ve participated in and I’m a little nervous. There are so many well-known Portland artists who have been part of this show. For years each spring, I’ve dragged my reluctant, uncrafty family here to take a look around and support Portland makers. My favorite part — the student art! While there is some truly high-end work here, there are many affordable pieces as well. I hope you’ll take some time this weekend to support this great school!

140 artists and craftspersons will be selling their original artwork, furniture, toys, jewelry, textiles, paper creations, photography, paintings, ceramics and more! 30% of sales are donated to the Buckman PTA to support the award winning arts integrated education. The Puppies Thank You!

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to the Puplandia Dog Rescue‘s Valentine Shopping Extravaganza on Saturday at Oaks Park! It was a wonderful event that benefits a great cause and I was happy to be a part of it. If you didn’t come, you missed the puppy kissing booth. Just saying.

Chinchilla Whiskers will be busy sewing until the Buckman Art Show + Sell on Saturday, March 11 & Sunday, March 12. This should be a good one with 140 artists and craftspersons selling their original artwork, furniture, toys, jewelry, textiles, paper creations, photography, paintings, ceramics and more! Plus live music and dance performances, food cart deliciousness, free children’s art activities, and more. Hope to see you there!

Upcoming Spring Shows!

I thought the early months of 2017 would be a quieter time to sew some garments, build my skills, and develop my online store. But surprisingly, it seems there are quite a few craft shows happening out there!

Chinchilla Whiskers will be at these upcoming shows. I hope you’ll add these to your calendar!

Puplandia Valentine’s Day Shopping Extravaganza on Saturday, February 4, 2017 11 am – 3 pm at the Oaks Park Dance Pavilion. This show features over 50 amazing vendors of local art and craft. It is a fundraiser for Puplandia Dog Rescue. If that’s not enough to draw you in, there will be a puppy kissing booth!

Buckman Art Show + Sell 2017 on Saturday & Sunday, March 11-12, 2017 at Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School in SE Portland. I have always enjoyed attending this show as a shopper, especially art created by the students! The Buckman show features 140 artists and makers selling their original artwork, furniture, toys, jewelry, textiles, paper creations, photography, paintings, ceramics and more! Plus there’s live music and dance performances, food cart deliciousness, free children’s art activities, and more.
